Culmination and Activities Participation Requirements

Students must earn  “50” credits during their 8th grade year (2025-2026) to be eligible for a Certificate of Completion.
Additionally, Virgil Middle School  requires all students to meet the following criteria to participate in the culmination ceremony.
Students must earn a minimum of 20 Es or Ss in Work Habits and Cooperation on their Fall and Spring final report cards.
Students must maintain 96% attendance rate throughout their eighth-grade year (excuse absence exempt).

Students must have no more than 6 period absences throughout their eighth-grade year (excuse period absence exempt).

Students must have no more than 6 left early throughout their eighth-grade year (excuse left early exempt).

Students must have no more than 6 Tardies throughout their eighth-grade year (excuse tardies exempt).

Students must have no serious violations of LAUSD behavior policies throughout their eighth-grade year (e.g., fights, instigating fights, recording/sharing fights, drug or substance infractions, cyberbullying, and/or weapons).

Students must clear all their debts (library books, textbooks, and/or technology).

Students must clear all their assigned reflections.

Students must abide by Safety Use of Technology Policy (i.e., use of cellphone/technology).
